The COVARM (Course Validation and Approval Reference Model) project undertook a review of course validation practices in UK HE, which revealed that paper-based systems were not always well-suited to getting new offerings to market in a short time. The study found  many opportunities to use course information in more integrated and flexible ways throughout the validation and review process. The project is exploring, among other things, how decisions taken in the course of programme development relate to one another, and how the associated flows of information can best be managed. Study outcomes and the reference model itself are available from the project web site.
