Curriculopoly board game

Who is this for?

This board game was designed by the KUBE: (Kingston Uplift for Business Education Project) Kingston College eLearning team designed and created this for use with teachers on the HE Business programs. It specifically aims to encourage creative thinking about how to blend different eLearning tools and techniques within the remit of the needs of the HE Business schemes of work.

How does it work?

We created a board based around a ‘generic’ scheme  covering many of the most important areas within the HE Business programs. Each player is provided with a set of eLearning cards ranging from ‘wiki’ to ‘Hot Potato Quiz’. Players are asked to roll the dice and depending on which square (and which statement contained in the square) would make a choice of eLearning card and propose a learning solution.

For example ‘Appreciation of business information systems’ might use a drag drop quiz or picture quiz. Each player is encouraged to ‘trump’ this suggestion if they feel another tool would be more appropriate. The first player to play all their cards and reach the end is be winner.

This video shows the game being used at the KUBE visioning day which took part in early January 2010 we have subsequently used the game with different teams as a staff development exercise.

How can it be used elsewhere?

Simply by reconfiguring the board to suit other topics the game can be used with any subject and teaching/learning team.

The project has also created a learning module of the board game in Xerte
