Effective curriculum design and delivery processes depend on an underlying system architecture which allows interoperability between a range of component systems and data. The baselining process undertaken by all CDD projects found that for greatest efficiency and service to users - in this case principally learners and teaching staff - the following systems need to be considered:

• workflow and document management
• content management in repositories
• learning environments
• institutional administration systems
• student record systems
