Information Space Technologies: Year 1 exploration at Middlesex
This case study describes the Year 1 technology pilot explorations trialled at Middlesex.

Context
The focus for the pilot case study in the first year of the project was to intervene in the support for a single small‐scale module. The module was on an MSc programme in Interaction Design, being studied by a small group (6‐8) of students from varied
backgrounds (including backgrounds in industrial design. Information technology, education, and engineering).

The module was on Interaction Design Practice, and involved the students working on practical design projects in two main phases:
(1) a team design project, where all students worked together largely under the direction of a tutor. Weekly sessions allowed for work to be reviewed and for the team‐based design to be moved forward.
(2) an individual, student‐defined project where each student worked autonomously, and reported progress on a weekly basis to the rest of the group in a ‘crit’ session.
