 The effective use of these technologies in supporting curriculum development and delivery depend on specifications and standards which ensure that different systems are interoperable.  Common standards being investigated and used across both programmes include:

 

Learning Design 

 

Exchanging course-related information

  • XCRI (standard for exchanging course-related information - linked to MLO))
  • MLO (European standard for advertising course information -link to XCRI) 
  • Curriculum Exchange Format (describing course-related information)

 

Packaging and sharing content  

  • IMS Content Packaging (transporting learning materials between systems)
  • SCORM (common standard for exporting content from learning management systems)
  • IMS ACCMD (metadata specification for accessibility)
  • IMS Common Cartridge (specification for delivering learning content)
  • IMS QTI (specification for sharing assessment data)
